Role Purpose

The role of the Utility Worker is to insure that the fleet is fully prepared for service.  Other responsibilities include assisting the maintenance department with the upkeep of the fleet, shop, grounds and the operations facilities.

 

Core Competencies / Responsibilities

 

  • Fueling and topping off fluids for all vehicles and ensuring they are ready for service.
  • Cleaning of vehicle interior, according to the contract.
  • Ensuring vehicle emergency equipment (fire extinguisher, body-fluid kit, first aid kit) are fully stocked and functional.
  • Parking vehicles according to facility parking plan.
  • Communication and documentation of any fleet damage to management.
  • Maintenance and cleaning of fuel-island, as well as immediate cleaning and containment of spills and reported to management.
  • Ensuring work area is maintained according to all OSHA and EPA regulations.
  • Daily shop area cleaning, mopping and trash disposal.
  • Landscaping and lot cleaned and cared for as needed.
  • Post notices in vehicles as required by the client.
  • Check status of onboard cameras daily.
  • Swap fair boxes per schedule.
  • Assist maintenance staff and manager as needed.
  • Driving /vehicle delivery.
  • Parts pick up when needed.

 

Knowledge and Experience

 

  • Due to insurance purposes, must be over 21 years of age.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Must have CDL or be able to obtain one within 90 days of employment.
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds unassisted
  • Able to work without direct supervision.
  • Must be able to work in and outdoors in all weather conditions.
  • Must be able to read, write and speak English; basic math skills.
  • Must be able and willing to work flexible schedule that may include nights, weekends and holidays.
  • Must able to work in a union environment.

Additional Statements

Drug and alcohol screening: Employment contingent upon passing pre-employment drug and alcohol screen. Also, contingent upon receiving a favorable background check. If applying for a safety sensitive position, it may require a physical examination.
