Job Title Dispatcher/Road Supervisor*

Position Summary:

Dispatchers and Road Supervisors are responsible for operational supervision, field supervision, accident and incident investigation and operator monitoring. All employees are expected to perform the duties of a Dispatcher and/or Road Supervisor when required. 

Core Competencies/Responsibilities:

Road Supervisors:

  • Ensure Operator safety, customer satisfaction and on-time performance
  • Monitor and document daily service operation (Customer Service, Safety and on-time performance)
  • Remain fully knowledgeable of Foothill Transit’s service area, routes and fares, Foothill Transit’s and Keolis’ Operational Policies and Procedures, Daily Bulletins, and Detours
  • Coordinate with Dispatch and Controller of all service adjustments to maintain frequency or return buses to their scheduled departure
  • Respond to and investigate accidents in accordance with locations required policies
  • Perform road/ride checks and road observations on a regular basis
  • Performs all other duties as assigned 


  • Ensure all Safety Policies and procedures are followed at all times
  • Manage and confirm daily sign outs to ensure all reports are made and dispatched
  • Manage the daily Extra Board assignments in accordance with the provisions of the Labor Agreement and practice; including posting of extra work/day off boards and assigning work. Ensure all work is properly covered in an efficient manner
  • Use standby Operators effectively to ensure on-time performance
  • Ensure Operators are Fit For Duty and are in uniform
  • Record attendance of Operators and note absences, sickness, suspensions, or other attendance irregularities, and document into DCS
  • Coordinate with Maintenance Team and Controller to facilitate the prompt response to service disruptions including accidents, breakdowns and other incidents
  • Document all daily service operations including; exceptions to normal service, Safety incidents, Customer Service issues, and on-time performance
  • Monitor AVL/GPS (My Avail System) exceptions and take corrective actions with Operators and Road Supervisors to return vehicles to schedule or adjust frequency in the case of closed headways
  • Make all the necessary communications for the assistance from Fire, Police and Emergency Departments
  • Performs other duties as assigned
