Position Summary:

The Payroll Manager’s reports to the controller and is responsibilities for the overall supervision of all processes for payroll.  We are looking for someone to lead our payroll functions. This includes the oversight of the preparation and computation of accurate payroll and personnel records, as well as processing accurate and timely payment of salaries and wages while in compliance with company and state regulations.  You’ll work to ensure our payroll expenses and taxes are paid correctly and on time. A big part of your job will be to supervise our payroll team and liaise with other professionals. The Payroll Supervisor will also provide clerical and administrative support as needed.    

Core Competencies/Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and direct all payroll processing and procedures
  • Develop systems to process payroll account transactions (e.g. salaries, benefits, garnishments, deductions, taxes and third party payments)
  • Oversee processing of payroll changes (e.g. new hires, terminations, raises, bonuses, etc) and system upgrades
  • Ensure compliance with applicable laws and payroll tax obligations
  • Supervise and mentor staff as needed
  • Manage the company-wide transition to new payroll providers
  • Liaise with auditors and manage payroll tax audits
  • High level of expected collaboration with Human Resources and accountants across all divisions
  • Maintain accurate records and prepare reports
  • Resolve issues and answer payroll-related questions
  • Manages and tracks all PTO by location 


  • 3-5 years of proven experience as a Payroll Manager
  • Ability to meet critical deadlines and achieve organizational objectives
  • ADP knowledge strongly preferred
  • Multi-state payroll and tax knowledge preferred
  • Union/non-union payroll knowledge preferred
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, with an emphasis on Excel
  • Proficiency with accounting software; experience with Sage 100 a plus
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to work across departments
  • Ability to exercise discretion and confidentiality is essential
  • Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills a must
  • Ability to thrive in a fast paced environment to meet required deadlines
